What is Youth and its purpose?
The Youth is a gathering of young people on a regular basis, from within the Church, that meet
together in an effort to become closer to JESUS CHRIST through whom is our salvation unto
God whom we can trust. (Psalm 3:8; Proverbs 3:5)
How does The Youth fulfill its purpose?
The Yuvajana Sakhyam fulfills its purpose of becoming closer to Christ, by making its primary
focus the study of the word of God, after all how can you trust the One True Living God if you
can't trust his word. (2 Timothy 2:15; Acts 17:11; 1 Chronicles 12:32; Exodus 20:7))
What does The Youth achieve?
When these young people gather together forming the youth, by the study of God's word these
youth members gain wisdom in Christ. This wisdom makes them wise for salvation, in Jesus
Christ they gain life that allows a relationship to be formed for each person with God. As these
same young people that are in the youth live there lives in the world they will not be part of it
but they will remain in a faithful walk with Christ following and living in him. The reason a
person will walk in Christ is because he knows and believes in him, whilst this world will not be
able to understand this, the world will ask questions of them. When the world asks questions
of our faith in Christ we should be ready to give an answer. Therefore the youth adopt the
following word of God as the focal point of the youth's study, due to world we must live in but
not be part of.
The Youth rely on the Holy Spirit of God, The Youth needs the Holy Spirit to help understand God's word and to teach us what we should pray in our times of need and worship of God. We need the Holy Spirit to enable us to live lives he desires for us. Without the Holy Spirit a person cannot live for God and The Youth cannot function. (1 Corinthians 1:30; John 6:63; 2 Timothy 3:15; John 3:16; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 5: 9-10; 1 Corinthians 2:14; 2 Peter 1:19- 21; Romans 9:26; Hebrews 11:5; Isaiah 64:6)
What does the Youth do in the Church?
Apart from the study of God's word to become closer to him, The Youth also regularly hold
prayer sessions that enable time to worship him and lay before God our needs. These prayer
sessions enable the Youth to strengthen the Church's needs in prayer. The Youth hold specific
prayer meetings for guest leaders to come and provide teaching and lead discussions. Youth
members also assist in the activities of the Church organization. This also involves participation
in the various organizations in the Church for example the Choir. Youth members are also lead
to support Church movements such as the Sunday School to strengthen even the youngest
members of the Church. The Youth are involved in the support of Church functions such as
Harvest Festival and various celebrations.
